Barbell Club at MTU

WHAT IS THE BARBELL CLUB?
We are an organization dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive community to participate in and discuss topics related to weight training. Founded in the Fall of 2021, our current goal is to spread awareness of the strategies and benefits of adopting a weight training program to the student body, as well as provide the necessary resources to do so. Our club reaches this goal by hosting events and challenges, as well as offering club-purchased equipment.
MEET THE E-BOARD
Anna Turner
President
Hello! My name is Anna and I have been a part of the Barbell Club since it began in 2021! Fitness has been a large part of my lift since I was little, I played volleyball most of my life and also ran track in high school where I was an All State pole vaulter! I am currently a bodybuilder with about six years of lifting experience and two years of training experience. I will be competing in my first competition in June in the figure division! At Tech, I am a fourth year Biomedical Engineer with a minor in mathematical sciences. I am also a lifeguard and a swim instructor at the SDC pool! As president of the Barbell Club my biggest responsibility is to execute the ideas and goals of the members of the club to enhance everyone’s fitness journey at Tech!
Tristan Lietz
Vice President
Hello my name is Tristan Lietz, a second year electrical engineering student here at Michigan Tech. I have been consistently lifting for the past 2 years and am learning more and more as I continue my fitness journey. As vice president of the barbell club, my job is to assist the president with anything that the club needs. I also run our social media accounts. Outside of the gym I love to barbecue and grill. I look forward to seeing all of you in the gym!
Isabella Fecteau
Secretary
Hey! My name is Bella, and I’m a fourth-year medical laboratory science major. I’ve been lifting for about 6 years, and have recently been more focused on powerlifting. My first ever meet was our very own barbell club powerlifting meet last spring! I am the barbell club secretary, and my main job is to keep track of attendance for members to gain voting status, tracking meeting minutes, and keep communication open to all members.
Wyatt Madden
Treasurer
Hey! My name is Wyatt Madden and I am a 4th year Chemical Engineering student. I have competed in two official USAPL powerlifting meets, and I took part in the powerlifting meet that the Barbell Club hosted at Tech. I have been lifting since I was 15 and plan to do more powerlifting meets in the near future. As treasurer, I help keep track of funding, and fundraisers so that the Barbell Club can host events such as our powerlifting meet.
